Gannett names president of newspaper division
Susan Clark-Johnson has been named president of Gannett Co.'s Newspaper Division. She succeeds Gary L. Watson, who is retiring after 39 years with Gannett. Clark-Johnson is being promoted from senior group president of the Gannett Pacific Newspaper Group, the company's largest regional group, and chairman, CEO and publisher of the Arizona Republic.
`WSJ' European edition picks managing director
Jon Housman, former CEO and co-founder of New York-based media company Jungle Media Group, has been named managing director of The Wall Street Journal's European edition. He succeeds Rien van Lent, who is leaving the company to establish his own consultancy business based in Europe. On Oct. 17, The Wall Street Journal Europe will debut a redesigned, compact format.
Madonia elevated to publishing director
David A. Madonia was promoted to publishing director of Penton Media's Supply Chain Group, which includes Logistics Today and Material Handling Management magazines and the corresponding Web sites. Madonia was previously associate publisher and general manager for e-media at New Equipment Digest.
CMP Channel Group promotes six execs
CMP Channel Group has promoted the following six executives: Dan Dignam to VP-publisher, CRN; Heather Clancy to VP-editor, CRN; Nancy Hammervik to VP-events; Alexandra Nordlinger-Stark to VP-strategic accounts; Gordon Plutsky to group marketing director; and Bill Jones to senior events manager, CMP XChange Conferences. CMP said the promotions will strengthen its commitment to its Channel Group, which provides information to IT vendors. All of the executives were previously with CMP Channel Group.
