Sid Holt, who has been editorial director of Nielsen Business Media (formerly VNU Business Media) since 2005, has left the company. Holt, who joined VNU Business Media in 1998 as editor in chief of Adweek Magazines, plans to write a book about the magazine industry. Prior to joining VNU, Holt was managing editor of Rolling Stone.
Crawford appointed president-CEO of IDG's PC World, MacWorld
IDG Corp. has promoted Colin Crawford from senior VP-online operations to president-CEO of PC World Communications and Mac Publishing. Crawford succeeds Jeff Edman, who had served as president-CEO of PC World Communications since 2000 and added the top executive role at Mac Publishing last year.
Ziff Davis picks Kramer as SVP-Internet sales and marketing
Ziff Davis Enterprise announced the promotion of Ziff veteran Phil Kramer to senior VP- Internet sales and marketing. Kramer, who was previously VP-Internet sales and marketing, helped integrate Ziff's Web Buyer's Guide and several other new products.
Cygnus Business Media names Gensch chief growth officer
Cygnus Business Media has named J. Thomas Gensch to the newly created position of chief growth officer. Gensch will be responsible for finding new ways to grow top-line revenue at Cygnus. Gensch, who has more than 20 years experience in sales and marketing, previously served as VP-worldwide sales for Knovel Corp.
CBS Interactive hires former Google exec Keane as CMO
CBS Interactive has hired Patrick Keane as exec VP-CMO. Keane was previously head of ad sales strategy at Google. He will be responsible for sales strategy, research, analytics and search engine optimization.
ABM promotes Flowers, Ennen to boost digital strategy
American Business Media has promoted Claudia Flowers to exec VP and Steve Ennen to VP-digital business strategies, effective immediately. Flowers, formerly senior VP-business development, will focus on cultivating new ABM members in emerging digital markets and expanding international efforts. Ennen, formerly VP-digital media & business information, will devote more of his time to assisting ABM members with their digital media efforts.
