Redmond, Wash.--MSNBC.com, a top business news site, has fired 18 people, or 9% of its staff. The company, owned by Microsoft Corp. and General Electric Co., is reeling from a downturn in online advertising. It did not reveal which departments were affected by the cutbacks.
