MSNBC posts first quarterly profit

Published on .

New York--MSNBC.com posted a fiscal fourth-quarter profit of about $1 million--the first profitable quarter for the Web site since its launch in July 1996.

MSNBC.com said it recorded annual revenue of nearly $45 million for fiscal year 2004. It said its improved financial performance was due in part to its ability to deliver the “at-work prime time” audience. MSNBC.com also said that more than 70 different advertisers spent more than $100,000 with the Web site.
