NBC Internet taps Fingerhut chairman for top spot

NBC Internet, San Francisco, hired William Lansing, formerly chairman of Fingerhut Cos., as CEO. Lansing brings a wealth of marketing contacts and experience to NBC Internet's top spot. Before joining Fingerhut, he held senior positions at McKinsey & Co., Prodigy Inc. and General Electric Co. In early February, NBC Internet, the Web subsidiary of New York-based National Broadcasting Co., raised $280 million in a follow-on public stock offering. Minnetonka, Minn.-based Fingerhut is a direct marketing unit of Federated Department Stores Inc.
