Nelnet acquires Peterson’s from Thomson

Lincoln, Neb.—Nelnet, which provides education products and services to schools, announced late Thursday that it has acquired Peterson’s from Thomson Corp. Financial terms were not disclosed but a person familiar with the deal said the price was $40 million.

Peterson’s provides education and career-related products for test preparation, admissions, financial aid information and career assistance.

Nelnet said in a news release that Peterson’s reaches an estimated 105 million consumers annually with its publications and online information about topics such as colleges and universities, financial aid, graduate programs and executive training.

Media investment bank Jordan, Edmiston Group handled the transaction on behalf of Thomson.
