News Corp. promotes James Murdoch

New York—News Corp. has named James Murdoch deputy COO and chairman-CEO, international. This is a newly created role at the company that owns Dow Jones & Co. and Fox News Channel.

Murdoch, who had been chairman-CEO for Europe and Asia for News Corp. as well as executive chairman, News International, since 2007, will relocate to New York from London. He will continue to report to News Corp. Deputy Chairman-President-COO Chase Carey and work closely with his father, Rupert Murdoch, chairman-CEO of the company.
