Newspaper association promotes its members through newspaper advertising

Published on .

Arlington, Va.—The Chicago Sun-Times Thursday became the latest newspaper to run a Newspaper Association of America ad promoting the value of newspapers to advertisers. The New York Times was the first to run the ad, last Friday.

The association is asking its members to run the full-page ad at no charge. The ad, which is in the form of a letter from NAA President-CEO John Sturm, addresses several “myths” about newspapers, including “no one reads newspapers anymore.” It says that 104 million adults in the U.S. read a daily newspaper, more than the 94 million who watch the Super Bowl.
