Newspaper executives meet to discuss paid online content

Chicago—Executives from The New York Times, Gannett Co., Hearst Newspapers and other newspaper companies met Thursday near O’Hare International Airport to discuss charging for online content, according to a post on The Atlantic’s Web site by former Chicago Tribune managing editor -features James Warren.

The subject of the meeting, which was organized by the Newspaper Association of America, was “Models to Monetize Content,” Warren said. Also on the agenda was a discussion of the Fair Syndication Consortium, a group created by software company Attributor that is designed to have ad networks that have served ads on Web pages containing illegally used content share revenue with the content creators.
