Published on .

New York—A consortium of seven newspaper chains has entered into an online partnership with search engine Yahoo! for online help wanted ads. The newspaper groups, which represent 176 daily newspapers, are: Belo, Cox Enterprises, E.W. Scripps, Hearst, Journal Register Co., Lee Enterprises and MediaNews Group. Under the deal, newspapers will be able to post their help wanted ads on Yahoo!'s HotJobs; they also will be able to use HotJobs to power their own online employment ads. The job sites will be co-branded between Yahoo! and local newspaper in 38 states, including the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution, Dallas Morning News and San Francisco Chronicle. The long-term goal of the partnership is to be able to have the content of these newspapers tagged and optimized for searching and indexing by Yahoo!
