Nextel names executives for Nascar program

Reston, Va.--Wireless telecommunications company Nextel Communications, which next year takes over sponsorship of Nascar’s Winston Cup, announced the appointment of Jill Gregory as director of Nascar Nextel Cup Series marketing. Prior to joining Nextel, Gregory was VP-general manager of GMR Marketing, where she managed sports, event and hospitality activities for Visa USA and other clients. Additionally, Mike Mooney joins Nextel as director of Nascar Nextel Cup Series corporate communications. Prior to joining Nextel, Mooney was principal of Cox Marketing Group, where he was responsible for clients’ sports public relations programs. Gregory and Mooney will be based in Charlotte, N.C.
