Nielsen//NetRatings, comScore respond to IAB audit challenge

Published on .

New York—Online measurement companies Nielsen//NetRatings and comScore each responded Tuesday to an open letter sent last Thursday by Interactive Advertising Bureau President-CEO Randall Rothenberg that urged both companies to participate in a third party audit.

In his response to the IAB, William Pulver, president-CEO of NetRatings, said he "shares the IAB's enthusiasm for building accountability across the digital media marketplace" and that NetRatings looks forward to meeting with the IAB "to discuss the opportunities and challenges relating to Internet audience measurement."

comScore said it too welcomes the objective of achieving the transparency in panel methods for measurement that was outlined in the IAB letter. As part of that, comScore is currently undergoing an evaluation of its methodology and processes by the Advertising Research Foundation.
