Nielsen//NetRatings reports telecoms fastest-growing online advertisers

New York—Telecommunications companies were the fastest-growing online advertisers in December, compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Internet research company Nielsen//NetRatings.

Telecommunications companies increased their online advertising by six percentage points in share of online impressions in December, compared with December 2003, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.

SBC Communications led the telecommunications industry as the top online advertiser, with 32% of telecommunications impressions in December, growing 22 percentage points year over year from December 2003.

Verizon Communications had 10% of all telecommunications impressions in December, rising three percentage points year over year.

Vonage Holdings Corp. also had 10% of telecommunications impressions in December, increasing eight percentage points year over year from December 2003.
