Nisenholtz takes over daily operations of NY Times Co.'s About Group

Published on .

New York—Martin Nisenholtz, senior VP-digital operations at the New York Times Co., wrote in an internal memo that he has taken over daily operations of the company's About Group. He replaces Cella Irvine, who has left the company. The business unit's revenue declined to $31.1 million in the first quarter of this year, a decrease of 10.2% compared with the year-earlier period. Under President-CEO Irvine, who joined About Group in 2008, the business added a Spanish-language channel, planned to grow its topic sites from about 800 to 1,000 and said it would double its video content this year. About.com said it intended to continue the expansion of its Industry and Trade Channel, its b-to-b segment.
