|Boeing Co.'s Web site, launched in May 1995, provides a great view of the aerospace industry as it delivers information and specs to suppliers and other companies interested in doing business with Boeing.|
Although you can't just throw one of Boeing's business jets onto your credit card online, business-to-business products featured on the site include simulation software.
David Weitz, manager of Boeing's communication Web team, said the site helps Boeing respond to an average of 300,000 requests for information each month.
Boeing's Web site has evolved gradually but has also undergone redesigns because of the company's 1996 acquisition of Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Rockwell's defense and aerospace units, and 1997 merger with McDonnell Douglas Corp., St. Louis.
Mr. Weitz said the site will continue to evolve, but no major changes are planned for the next year.
Nearly $2 million has been allocated by Boeing for the site's 1999 budget. This includes site maintenance, designated salaries and online advertising.
