Nortel joins forces with Microsoft to tap services market

Ottawa, Ontario--Telecommunications giant Nortel Networks Corp. said Tuesday that it has teamed up with Microsoft Corp. to combine technologies to allow telephone carriers to sell Internet services ranging from e-mail to supply chain management. Terms of the deal, announced at the Supercomm 2001 technology trade show, were not disclosed. The combination of products is designed to streamline Internet data center operations.
