Nortel names new chief marketing officer

Published on .

Brampton, Ontario--In the midst of a $100 million corporate branding campaign, Nortel Networks Monday announced a new chief marketing officer. John Craig was named to the post, succeeding F. William Conner. Mr. Conner was named exec VP and president of Nortel's enterprise solutions unit. Mr. Craig will oversee all corporate marketing regions and groups at Nortel, which posted $17.6 billion in revenue last year. The move comes on the heels of Nortel's launch of its $100 million brand campaign, which features the tagline ``What do you want the Internet to be?'' With TV spots that make use of the Beatles' ``Come Together,'' the campaign is scheduled to run well into the year 2000. No significant changes are expected in the campaign as a result of Mr. Craig's appointment, a Nortel spokesperson said.
