Chicago—Northstar Travel Media, the Secaucus, N.J.-based publisher of Travel Weekly
and Meetings & Conventions,
is poised to pull the trigger on a deal to acquire travel properties from Nielsen Co.'s Nielsen Business Media, according to multiple industry sources.

Last month Northstar announced the acquisition of the Original Home Based Travel Agent Show and Conference from Real Trade Shows.
Nielsen Business Media is divesting its trade publishing properties and late last year sold several magazines, including Billboard
and The Hollywood Reporter,
to private equity-backed e5Global Media.
A Nielsen Co. spokesperson and Northstar CEO Tom Kemp declined to comment. However, Kemp told BtoB's Media Business
last month that he was mulling further acquisitions. “What we want to do is take advantage of a weak M&A market if we can to try to find appropriate acquisitions at attractive prices," he said.
