NY Times to launch app for Leap Motion 'touch-free' controller

Published on .

New York—The New York Times has announced it will launch a news app for Leap Motion's Leap Motion Controller, a device that enables users to control laptops and desktops “touch-free” by moving their hands and fingers in front of the screen. When Leap Motion debuts July 22, users will also be able to download the New York Times news app from Leap Motion's app store, the Airspace Store. The free app will give users access to Times articles and will not require a digital subscription at launch. The app also features advertising capabilities that allow brands to use motion-controlled ad units embedded between articles, the company said in a statement.
