New York—The New York Times released updated versions of its iPhone and iPad news apps, redesigned for optimal reading with Apple's iOS7 mobile operating system, which was made available earlier this week. The redesigned apps include more diversified font usage, custom layouts designed specifically for each news section, more images and multimedia on section fronts, thumbnail images on article previews, and integration of one of iOS7's signature features, AirDrop, for article sharing. AirDrop enables the wireless transfer of digital assets such as photos between compatible devices in close physical proximity to one another.
