Office Depot to sponsor 2002, 2004 Olympics

Delray Beach, Fla.--Office Depot Inc., the nation's largest office supplies company, has entered an extensive Olympics sponsorship pact. It will sponsor the U.S. teams at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. It has also purchased the rights to be the official office supply sponsor for the Salt Lake Organizing Committee. Notably, Office Depot announced it would use the USA Olympic rings and the Salt Lake 2002 logos in its advertising, promotions and in-store branding. Financial details were not disclosed. Office Depot joins an elite group of b-to-b marketers that will sponsor the Games at Salt Lake City and Athens, including Visa International and United Parcel Service of America Inc.
