'The Office' Games

By Published on .

HUNDREDS OF FANS GATHERED IN SCRANTON, PA., ON JULY 19 AS Mindy Kaling of NBC's “The Office” hosted a daylong celebration for the release of “The Office” DVD Board and Trivia games. Kaling, a writer, co-executive producer and actress on the half-hour, award-winning “docucomedy,” is noted for her portrayal as Dunder Mifflin chatterbox Kelly Kapoor. A 2K Run kicked off at the Mall at Steamtown as participants, suited up in business attire, competed for a chance to claim Best Dressed and Best Office Character Look-alike titles. Die-hard fans also went head-to-head in a trivia challenge and beet-eating contest. Winners from all activities received Dwight Bobble Head trophies. The Office Games raised money for United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania, a Scranton-based charity group that provides services and opportunities for individuals to build strong, mutually supportive communities within the area. “There was no question that Scranton [would be] the place to introduce our new games based on "The Office,' ” said Jim Pressman, president of Pressman Toy Corp, the maker of the “The Office” board games. “The fan base is terrific.” Pressman Toy Corp. is the third-largest game manufacturer in America. —Tanya Meyer
