Online ad spending expected to top $21 billion this year

New York—Advertisers are expected to spend $21.4 billion online this year, according to a report released Wednesday by eMarketer. That is a 25.1% increase over 2006.

Search (41.1%), display ads (21.5%) and classified ads (18.4%) garner the largest share of online ad spending.

EMarketer projected spending will reach $42 billion by 2011.
