The 2009 edition of the directory is slated for release Tuesday. Print-only newsletters listed in the directory decreased 43%, from 7,395 to 4,180 in the same time frame. The number of newsletters in both print and electronic formats increased slightly, to 4,949 from 4,859.
The number of newsletters in the 2009 edition totaled 15,343, up from 13,197 in the 2004 edition. Over the last year, online and e-mail newsletters grew to 6,055 from 5,485, while print-only versions dropped from 4,873 to 4,180.
“Overall, newsletters are holding their own in this media-threatening economy. There were 15,185 newsletters in the 2008 edition of the directory, and 15,343 in 2009,” Trish Hagood, president of Oxbridge Communications, said in a statement.
