Harrison, N.Y.—E-commerce sales grew 10.9% in July compared with the same period last year, according to a report from MasterCard Advisors, a consultancy division of MasterCard Worldwide.

According to the company’s report, SpendingPulse—an analysis of MasterCard sales as well as estimates of other payment forms—e-commerce posted gains throughout the year in almost all its categories. The company did not release dollar amounts.

The continued growth of online purchasing contrasts with overall retail spending, which was flat in July.

“Particularly, we are noticing some weakness in industry sectors that rely on higher-priced ticket items such as furniture, and discretionary areas such as luxury and jewelry,” said Michael McNamara, VP-research and analysis for SpendingPulse, in a statement.
