New York--Ophthalmology Times China, a joint venture between Advanstar Communications Inc. and eSinoMed Ltd., debuted at the 2002 ASCRS/ASOA Symposium & Congress in Philadelphia.

Ophthalmology Times China is the first magazine to be produced as a result of the Advanstar and eSinoMed alliance, and the first local edition of an Advanstar Healthcare magazine to be produced specifically for the Chinese market.

“Historically, China’s ophthalmology industry has relied on conferences and symposiums to communicate with their customers,” said Grant Prigge, eSinoMed COO. “With advertising support for the inaugural issue coming from industry leaders such as AMO [formerly Allergan Surgical], Bausch & Lomb, Alcon, Schwind and Carl Zeiss, we believe we have been able to provide a unique, cost-effective and high-quality alternative to companies looking to communicate with the ophthalmology market in China.”

Ophthalmology Times China's initial print run was 7,500, and with this launch, the Ophthalmology Times brand now reaches more than 43,000 ophthalmologists in countries throughout North America, Latin America and Asia.
