Oracle Small Business forges north

Redwood Sores, Calif.--Oracle Corp. said Monday that it will expand its small-business oriented services into Canada with storefront and customer relationship management offerings. In the b-to-b arena, Oracle's efforts to reach small businesses is being closely watched. That's because it increases Oracle's competition with such traditional competitors as SAP AG and J.D. Edwards & Co., and also sets up new competition with such online services as AOL Time Warner Inc. and eBay Inc. Key to Oracle's small-business b-to-b strategy is a partnership with NetLedger Inc. NetLedger provides the storefront and CRM technology that is marketed under the Oracle Small Business Suite brand. The new Canadian services work with Oracle Small Business Accounting for Canada, which was released in June. Prices are $49.95 to run a Web store and $19.95 for a basic Web site.
