OrderZone.com, Works.com joining forces

Published on .

Two procurement Web sites targeting small and midsize buyers Tuesday agreed to combine their operations. Chicago-based W.W. Grainger Inc.'s OrderZone.com and Works.com, Austin, said they've formed a strategic partnership to create a single, combined procurement site, which will retain the Works.com name. OrderZone.com brings to the partnership a deep maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) catalog, thanks to its parent, Grainger, while Works.com is perhaps best known for its Web-based purchasing and approval workflow application. Together, the companies will compete with other small-business marketplaces, such as BizBuyer.com and Onvia.com. Grainger will hold a 40% stake in the combined company.
