Organization seeks interchange in CRM data

Published on .

Seattle--A new organization has been established to create a standard for trading data among customer relationship management systems. Called OpenSourceCRM.org (www.sourceforge.net), it will assemble a group of companies that will test ways to make CRM databases compatible with each other. Today, much CRM software is encumbered by code that is proprietary to the vendor, making it difficult to adapt the data to interactive Internet applications, the group said. Sponsors of the organization include Stone Analytics, Buildscape, Riskwise, WebCE and VA Linux Systems. The announcement was made at the DMA net.marketing trade show and conference in Seattle.
