Outsell predicts strong growth in online marketing

Burlingame, Calif.— Total online marketing spending will increase 19% this year, eight times the rate of TV ad spending and six times the rate of print ad spending, according to a new study by research firm Outsell.

The study, “The Annual Ad Spending Study: Where and Why Advertisers are Moving Online,” was based on an e-mail survey of 1,200 advertisers conducted in November.

The study found that online marketing  is now used by 80% of advertisers.

Outsell projects that more than 90% of advertisers will use online marketing by 2008.

Also, spending on search engine advertising will grow 26% this year, the study predicts.
