Wientzen gives advice to direct marketers

Published on .

New York—Direct Marketing Association President-CEO H. Robert Wientzen's message to direct marketers in his opening remarks Tuesday at DM Days New York Conference & Exhibition amounted to a pep talk.

Wientzen advised marketers not to fight change; to stay informed and vocal about technological and legislative issues affecting the industry; and to never forget the customer is "the boss."

Wientzen also told attendees the speech was possibly the last time he would talk to them as president-CEO of the DMA. "It won't be long before I'll be stepping down." Wientzen, who has led the DMA since September 1996, has announced plans to step down this summer.
