Partminer launches electronics exchange

New York-based Partminer Inc. Monday launched its online marketplace for the electronic components industry. Its Electronic Commerce Free Trade Zone (www.freetradezone.com) builds on the company's roots in the independent distribution business and features purchasing tools, product information and free editorial content. The site does not charge membership or transaction fees, but gets revenues from a value-added sourcing service called PartMiner Direct, which helps companies scout out hard-to-find components. The site was built with IBM Corp.
