PeakSoft whets appetite for fisheries industry

Published on .

Bellingham, Wash.--A new business-to-business portal, launched Friday, is going after the commercial fishing industry. PeakSoft, Bellingham, Wash., announced Friday an agreement with the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce to develop a community for the commercial fisheries industry. The deal will bring Kodiak's research library of trading and regulatory information to the new site, while PeakSoft will provide marketing and content creation services. Asked whether the fishing industry would cozy to a Web community, PeakSoft Chief Operating Officer Tim Metz said business services helping fishermen solve such common issues as taxes and environmental regulation should pique interest. Fisheries is one of more than 50 industries PeakSoft has targeted for development, Mr. Metz said. Referral services and advertising are expected to be the site's main revenue streams.
