PennWell acquires renewable energy Web site

Tulsa, Okla.—PennWell Corp., a b-to-b media company focused on energy markets, has acquired a 51% interest in iCommerce & Marketing, which produces an online-only publication for renewable energy at www.renewableenergyaccess.com. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. iCommerce founders Jim Callihan and Oliver Strube will retain 49% ownership and continue to direct operations for renewableeergyaccess.com, which launched in 1999. The site, which has 50,000 registered users, covers finance, policy and technology for renewable energies, including solar power, wind power, biomass and biofuels, geothermal, hydrogen/fuel cells and hydropower.
