PennWell buys ‘LEDs Magazine’

Tulsa, Okla.—PennWell Corp., a b-to-b media company that covers the oil, gas, water and environmental markets, among other verticals, said Monday it has acquired LEDs Magazine, an online publication and Web site covering the technology and applications of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Financial terms were not disclosed. The magazine and Web site serve more than 20,000 readers who specify, design and manufacture LED-based products for a wide range of applications, including general and architectural lightning, signs and displays, and mobile appliances. Tim Whitaker, who founded LEDs in 2004, will join PennWell as publisher-editorial director of the publication. He will remain based in Bristol, U.K.
