PennWell purchases ‘Fire Apparatus & Emergency Equipment’

Tulsa, Okla.—PennWell Corp., publisher of Fire Engineering, announced Friday that it has acquired Fire Apparatus & Emergency Equipment and the website FireMagazine.com. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fire Apparatus & Emergency Equipment, a monthly, was founded in 1996 and has a readership of 35,000 in North America. PennWell said that Kathryn Jorgensen, president of Fire Apparatus, which owned the acquired properties, will assist with the transition.

Lyle Hoyt, a PennWell senior VP who manages the dental and fire groups, will oversee the newly acquired properties. Current Fire Apparatus Publisher-Sales Manager Bob Kelly and Editor in Chief Lyn Bixby will continue in those roles, according to PennWell.
