Penton agrees to buy German trade show company

Published on .

Penton Media Inc., Cleveland, has agreed to purchase a controlling stake in ComMunich, a German trade show company, according to Penton CEO Tom Kemp. The agreement builds on the joint venture between the two companies to stage Penton's Internet World in Germany. Between 1999 and 2000, the German Internet World show more than doubled in exhibition space from 5,000 square meters to 12,500 square meters, Kemp said. Penton plans to use Munich-based ComMunich as a platform to introduce additional Penton events in Germany.
