Cleveland—Penton Media has formed a business unit focused on serving professional and trade associations and foundations. Penton currently publishes more than 50 different magazines serving dozens of niche markets, including business technology, design/engineering and foodservice. The company wants to leverage its various products to offer custom publications to support associations. The custom formats will include printed magazines, newsletters, electronic magazines and e-newsletters. Penton will also assist associations and foundations with the planning and execution of trade shows and events. The unit will be based in Washington, D.C. Kenneth Hansen, formerly in charge of business development at the Magazine Group, will head up the new office.
