Penton Media names Kemp as chairman

Published on .

Cleveland--Penton Media Inc. on Thursday announced that CEO Thomas Kemp has added the title of chairman. He succeeds King Harris, who was named vice-chairman. Prior to joining Penton in 1996, Kemp served as president-COO of Miller Freeman USA. Under Kemp's leadership, Penton has grown from $166.6 million in revenue in 1996 to $404.6 million in 2000. The growth has been driven by Penton's aggressive diversification into trade shows and conferences, as well as the expansion of its online portfolio.
