Fort Collins, Colo. —Penton Media's technology media group announced that it will cease printing its magazines, which will become entirely digital brands beginning in May. Titles in the technology group, which serves IT professionals, include SQL Server Pro and Windows IT Pro.
Penton's digital edition subscriptions have increased by double digits in the past year, according to Peg Miller, Penton's technology market leader. “We conducted research amongst our audience and advertisers and found that they were really looking for an enhanced digital experience and were becoming less reliant on print magazines,” she said in a statement.
Before it was acquired by QuinStreet Inc. earlier this month, Ziff Davis Enterprise took a similar step with its print titles (Baseline, CIOInsight and eWeek) as part of its OmniDigital initiative.
Penton said there will be no job cuts as a result of this change.
