Published on .

New York—Despite a slowdown in the economy and a tightening of the credit markets, investment activity in the marketing, advertising and digital media industries was strong in the first quarter, according to a new report by marketing investment bank Petsky Prunier.

The company said the number of transactions in the first quarter grew to 193, from 156 in the year-earlier period. The combined value grew to $11.4 billion, from $7.8 billion.

Petsky Prunier examined four broad sectors in its quarterly analysis: interactive advertising; direct and database; digital content and commerce; and marketing technology.
