Petsky Prunier: M&A activity in marketing, advertising and digital media industries declines in Q4

Published on .

New York—Mergers and acquisitions in the marketing, advertising and digital media industries plunged in the fourth quarter, according to data compiled by investment bank Petsky Prunier.

The firm tracked 140 transactions with a combined value of $4.7 billion in the fourth quarter. The number of deals dropped 42% from the fourth quarter of 2007, while the value plummeted 79%.

“Transactions continued to be completed successfully in areas acquirers and investors believe will most appeal to marketers challenged by shrinking budgets and more stringent levels of accountability, including measurable and targeted media such as online and digital out-of-home businesses,” the report said.
