Pfizer, Ariba enter e-procurement deal

New York--Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. and Ariba Inc. have entered a major b-to-b e-procurement pact. Mountain View, Calif.-based Ariba will develop and manage Pfizer's e-procurement processes. Pfizer will use the Ariba Buyer platform to aid employees in routing purchasing from preferred suppliers and b-to-b marketplaces. The deal is a coup for Ariba; Pfizer, which had revenues of $21.47 billion through the first nine months of 2000, markets in some 150 countries.
