PIB: Magazine ad revenue up in November, while ad pages fall

New York—Magazine rate card-reported advertising revenue for November totaled $2.40 billion, up 2% from a year earlier, according to the Publishers Information Bureau. Ad pages fell 2.6% from a year earlier, following a 1.2% drop in October. Among the major ad categories tracked by PIB, there were more losses than gains in November. Among the decliners were automotive (down 14.2%) and financial, insurance and real estate (down 9.1%). Gainers included drugs and remedies (up 10.3%) and food and food products (up 1.7%). Year-to-date, total ad revenue was up 3.9% to $21.75 billion; ad pages were up 0.1%.
