Piper Jaffray promotes name change

Minneapolis--In support of its spin-off from U.S. Bancorp, which became official Dec. 31, investment firm Piper Jaffray Cos. ran an ad in Monday’s edition of The Wall Street Journal that announced the name change with the headline, “Our new name isn’t the biggest thing on your mind today.” The visual was a photograph of a mountain climber approaching the top of a snowy peak. The body copy emphasized Piper Jaffray’s client focus: “So while our new name may not be the biggest thing on your mind, your name is definitely the biggest thing on ours.”
