PlaceWare launches $6 million campaign to spur Web seminars

Mountain View, Calif.--PlaceWare Monday launched a $6 million campaign to increase awareness of Web conferences among business professionals. Full-page advertisements in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and San Jose Mercury News launched the campaign, which is scheduled to run through August. Taglined ``Web conferencing is here,'' the PlaceWare branding effort was developed by Goldberg Moser O'Neill, San Francisco, which is also handling the media buying. PlaceWare, Mountain View, Calif., is one of the leading vendors of Web conference software, along with WebEx, San Jose, Calif., and Contigo Software, San Diego. According to Forrester Research, Cambridge, Mass., 48% of Fortune 1000 companies use Web conference today, and another 22% plan to use it in the near future.
