Plastic Logic cancels QUE e-reader

Published on .

Mountain View, Calif.—Plastic Logic announced Tuesday that it has canceled its QUE e-reader product, which had been showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The product, which was supposed to ship earlier this year, was intended to compete with the iPad, Kindle and other e-readers.

”We recognize the market has dramatically changed and, with the product delays we have experienced, it no longer make sense for us to move forward with our first-generation electronic reading product,” Plastic Logic CEO Richard Archuleta said in a statement. “This was a hard decision, but is the best one for our company, our investors and our customers.”

Plastic Logic said, however, that it plans to introduce a “second-generation” ProReader e-reader.
