Primedia to cut 160 jobs

Published on .

New York--Primedia Inc., which has been struggling to merge its traditional media products with the Internet, said it is cutting 160 jobs as part of "new integration initiatives." The moves will cost 140 jobs at Intertec Publishing, Primedia's b-to-b trade publishing arm, and 20 at the IndustryClick Inc. network of Web sites. The reorganization includes a consolidation of functions between recently acquired About.com Inc.'s b-to-b offering ABZ Inc. and IndustryClick. The cuts are part of Primedia's effort to trim $49 million in costs this year.
