Primedia co-founder McCurdy starts new company

New York--Charles G. McCurdy, the co-founder and former president of Primedia, has formed a new company called Apprise Media.

The new company is backed by Spectrum Equity Investors, which announced Monday it plans to commit $175 million to $200 million in capital for investments in niche media businesses.

McCurdy will serve as Apprise Media’s chairman-CEO. Prior to launching Primedia, he was an executive at Macmillan Inc.
