Primedia names Rogers chairman-CEO

Published on .

New York--Primedia announced Monday that Tom Rogers, formerly president of NBC Cable and exec VP-NBC, is the business media company's new chairman-CEO. A statement from Primedia said the appointment of Mr. Rogers ``signifies a much deeper new-media focus'' for the company. Primedia has previously announced plans to create separate Internet divisions for its consumer publications and its trade publications arm, Intertec. At General Electric's NBC, Mr. Rogers, 45, helped develop CNBC and MSNBC and helped guide NBC into an ownership position of CNET. ``I am very excited about being able to apply my background as a GE-trained executive to the opportunity at Primedia to do what I do best: update a company's strategic focus by creating new-media businesses out of a traditional media base,'' Mr. Rogers said in a statement.
